About

Dr. Hickey graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in 2001. She went on to study Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. From there, she moved to Halifax, NS for her Psychiatry Residency and continued on to work at the IWK Centre in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Perinatal Psychiatry. She also provided locum work for Prince Edward Island in Child Psychiatry for several years. 


In 2019, Dr. Hickey relocated to Ontario and continued work in Perinatal Psychiatry at Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill. She moved to Ottawa in 2022 and continues to work in Perinatal Psychiatry in her private practice. She holds academic appointment at the University of Ottawa. 


Dr. Hickey's specific interests are in early years' care, having completed training in Circle of Security. She is trained in Interpersonal Therapy and regularly runs IPT groups for postpartum women. Future goals include furthering psychodynamic training, as well as a pilot IPT group for women experiencing perimenopause.


In her spare time, Dr. Hickey enjoys training her 2 dogs, Haiku and Sansa, spending time with her family and reading about true crime.
